Growing Up, I wanted to be like Tagoe Sisters – SP Kofi Sarpong

Have you ever wondered which god of muse inspires your favourite artist and from where they draw inspiration?

For many, sharing such a message only means revealing their secrete to their success or promoting others and would therefore keep it to themselves but for Ghanaian Police officer and Gospel musician SP Kofi Sarpong, it is of no need revealing who his role models are.

Speaking on Shades on GhOne TV, the only Gospel musician nominated for the most prestigious award at the 2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Artist of the Year revealed Tagoe sisters were and remain his role models.

According to him, his musical journey was inspired by the sisters years ago when they ministered in his village.

” They came to my village and ministered at a crusade which was being held right behind my house. Since then I told God that I wanted to be like them. I didn’t know what I was saying to myself but here I am.”

SP Kofi Sarpong has for the past few years since bursting unto the music scene been warmly welcomed by many.

He has so far shared the same stage with renowned musicians such as Cece Winans, Ron Kenoly, Sonni Badu and many others.

Speaking on managing both careers as a police officer and a manager, he answered saying;

“Police job is a major one and music too but I thank God that He’s given me the strength. There’s one thing I’ve realized, God will not give you any task He’s no you can not handle so he gives me the strength to carry them all out and I also have a wife who is also understanding.”

SP Kofi Sarpong is currently working on his third studio album which he says should be out soon.

Tagoe Sisters is a musical group made up of twin sisters Lydia Dedei Yawson Tagoe and Elizabeth Korkoi Tagoe. They have successful career that spans over two decades.
